As many as 89 government schools in Chandigarh will be equipped with smart interactive TVs, linked to Android mobiles taking education in government schools to the next level. This addition in the government education ecosystem will enhance teacher-students connect by simply downloading the app on their mobile.
Earlier, UT Government Schools have already got Smart classrooms, however this project will integrate government education infrastructure. The plan is to install two smart TVs in every school. However, in the first phase, only one smart classroom will be set up in each school.
On Monday, the education department wrote a letter to school heads, asking them to mark the area for construction of a smart room in their school and ensure WiFi and internet. Details of all reports in this regard are to be sent to the project coordinator.
Director, school education Dr Palika Arora said that schools would be integrated with digital education. She added that an amount of Rs 90 lakh had been spent on the project. In the next few days, these smart interactive TVs will reach Chandigarh and by the end of May, the TVs will be installed in 89 designated schools.
The education department has given the contract for the project to Bareo Interactive Technology Private, New Delhi. The company will install smart TVs and maintain them.
Only computers and projectors were installed in the previous smart classrooms but these were not interactive. Now, a 65-inch smart TV will be installed. The TVs will have i5 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB hard disk. Software will also be provided by the company for teachers to provide interactive education to students.
